Procrastinate Blog
The title of this blog should be called “Procrastinate Blog”. I don’t update this like I should. Well I have been incredibly busy. Work, family, church, K of C, social media stuff and life. I love my busy life and I am blessed to have it all.
Currently I am debating whether I should get an iPhone 4 or some sort of Android device. I am up for a new phone, I have the iPhone 3G with ios 4 and it is slow as molasses. I am really disappointed with Apple since they haven’t done much major improvements on the iPhone. Apple tends to lock down the iPhone for customization, of course you can attempt to jailbreak it, but if you brick your phone you are SOL.
I am not against Apple by any means. I love the Mac products, but they are pricey. Anyway, I do enjoy my iPad, very handy and it goes wherever I go.

I am writing this blog with my new iPad using the WordPress app. I am really glad I got my iPad a very handy device. I can take this everywhere and it is so convenient and quick. I just got to get used to the touchpad keyboard. It has every thing (almost) I need in a portable computer.
I am now the Deputy Grand Knight at my Knight of Columbus council 4030. It is a nice honor to represent my fellow Knights.
Happy Tuesday
I had a very busy but productive day. Doing a lot of data mining working with some really good people. Very tedious work but worthwhile since the results are very good.
Went to the Knights of Columbus tonight and celebrated my family of the month award. Found out that our council (4030) is #2 in the state, pretty nice honor and we are #1 in membership gain.
I wanted to say that the NYC Police and FBI did a great job tracking down the Times Square bomber. It is terrible that someone is wanting to kill a bunch of innocent people – I don’t understand it and don’t see what is the thrill behind it. Kudos to the NYC Police and FBI for their quick actions in defusing the bomb and tracking down the criminal.
I am really concerned about the oil spill that has recently happened by the explosion of the drilling rig. Some hard lessons learned and hopefully it will have some new rules in making it more secure when these disasters happen such as a valve in the bottom of the gulf to shut off any flow. It is going to harm the fishing and tourist industries.
Hump Day
Today is called Hump Day – it is a term that I think is goofy…..but that is what they call Wednesday. I have been really busy this morning being very productive.
I have learned that a good friend of mine’s office was broken into last night and all they stole was his server. It really sucks since all his data for the company is on there, it is going to be a lot of work to find old data. I was fortunate enough to look at his Outlook .ost file and convert it to a .pst file so they can save their emails that was on the server. Now we have to order a new server and we will look into getting better security for the server.
I just don’t understand why the hell would anyone want to break into office and steal a computer. Hopefully he can get it back through the police – I doubt it will happen, but luck may be there.
14 Years !!!
I have been married to my wife for 14 years and it has been a happy one. I am grateful in being happy with life in general. I wished my wife would find a job with the State of Louisiana. All she needs is 8 more months of work to make 20 years. It is so damn political in finding a job with the state, when they advertise, they usually have someone in mind or have some friend and waste all the other people’s time in interviewing. It is a stupid process like everything else in this state.
I would love to move away from here, but I like my job, I like the food here and my family is here so it is a hard sell to get me to move out of here. Plus it costs too much to move and with the economy being unstable, it isn’t a wise choice right now.
Well I am looking forward to my upcoming vacations this year.
Sunny Thursday
Here I sit during my lunch hour to add more items to this blog. It is nice outside, very sunny and pretty – a day that I wished I could stay home and do some outdoor stuff. Oh well, I got to bring home the bacon so I don’t have much of a choice here.
Well I have had an interesting month in February at work, learned how to do the SSIS application in Microsoft SQL. I think it sucks compared to the old SQL DTS application. Too many security restrictions and doesn’t give you any warning on the job is going to fail. Typical Microsoft product…find ways to make your lives miserable while emptying your wallet and wasting your time. The SSIS application is created by the use of the Visual Studio Business Intelligence Development tools. It is a pretty slick application, but deploying it is a bitch. Thanks to Google for letting me find the answers how to do this.
Found another Microsoft Windows 2008 caveat, with a new service called Windows Problem Reports and Solutions that writes data to your hard drive. Turned on by default and it makes you wonder why your disk space is running low. I killed that service and gained a few gigabytes back once I purged the reports. It should be turned OFF by default and give you the ability to use it when you are trying to troubleshoot Windows issues. Remember, it is another Microsoft product.
My next step is to do some SalesForce development from a class I took a while back, wish me luck on that. Writing the app is not an issue, the big issue is deployment, you have to have some test logic built in to publish or it won’t let you. You can write all day in SalesForce sandbox, but to publish in production, you have to have your ducks in a row or else it will fail.
Tiger Woods Drinking Game
Taken from: http://www.woot.com/blog/viewentry.aspx?id=11570
Its Highlights Here:
Take a drink: Every time he mentions the word “sorry” or “apologize.”
Take two drinks: Every time he uses the phrase “deeply regret.”
Take a shot: Every time he starts to tear up.
Take a drink: If he talks about his family.
Take a shot: If he mentions his sponsors at all.
Take TWO shots: At the beginning of the statement if he’s standing in front of a giant corporate logo of some kind.
Drink your entire beer: If he mentions returning to golf within the next three months.
Drink your entire bottle of liquor: If he blames this on a horrible sex addiction that he is powerless to stop.
Drink everything in your house, cry, and curse the death of professional golf: If he announces his retirement.
You could also try our “Ultimate Warrior Challenge” and take a drink every time a flash bulb goes off.
Screw Dat NFL
NFL are a bunch of greedy bastards, they claim a trademark for the slogan “Who Dat” which is a slogan that has been around for over 150 years, way before the Saints existed. They also claim the Fleur de lis is also a trademark too, well if you live in Louisiana, it is everywhere so no you can’t claim that either. I can see the greed since you are charging at a mimimum of $800 per ticket for the Superbowl. If it wasn’t for the Saints in the Superbowl, I could not give a rat’s ass about it.
Thanks to Rep David Vitter and Rep Charlie Melancon for stepping up and writing a letter to NFL about this matter.
Back on the blog
It is a rainy Friday. We went to Cracker Barrel for dinner, food was good but the service sucked. The waitress was hardly around and we did not get our biscuits before our meal. We got it midway our dinner. There is no excuse. So I did not leave a tip. Why should I leave a tip for crappy service.
Happy New Year (belated)
Back in the Blog, hope everyone had a happy New Year. Well my New Year’s day sort of sucked, 1st the Caterie burns down and 2nd LSU lost the bowl game against Penn. Coming back to work was very hard, but it wasn’t bad, got a lot done in the first few hours.
Now it is cold as hell outside, about 28 degrees or so, supposed to get colder later on this week.
